If A Child Reports Abuse Online:
If a child tells you they are being abused online, it can be challenging to know what to say and how to respond. They may not be aware that something is wrong. They might even hold themselves accountable. If a young person confides in you about online abuse, it's crucial to:
1. Pay close attention to what they have to say and let them know that you agree with what they have done.
2. Admit that it wasn't their fault and promise to take them seriously.
3. Avoid addressing the alleged abuser.
4. Describe what you'll do after that.
5. As soon as you can, report what the child has told you.
